Two accidents involving trucks at Linthipe in Dedza last night left one person injured.

The two accidents occurred at Mpinji near Linthipe 3 bridge.

The first occurred at around 8pm and involved a freightliner and a Nissan UD while the second crash happened at around 10pm and involved three vehicles.

According to Dedza Police Deputy Publicist Cassim Manda, in the first crash, a freightliner truck driven by a Mozambican national Avalo Domingos coming from Dedza going towards Lilongwe tried to overtake a vehicle and in the process collided with the Nissan driven by Abdul Hussain.

The second crash involved a freightliner truck driven by Gift Masonga coming from the direction of Dedza to Lilongwe, a Scania van driven by Will Maneya and a freightliner truck driven by Taurai Rait Bandula from Mozambique.

According to Manda, when Masonga arrived at Mpinji village near Linthipe, he saw a minibus which was heading the same direction but due to speeding, the driver swerved to offside lane where he hit another vehicle.

All drivers escaped without injuries but a passenger in one of the vehicles sustained a cut on his left foot.
