Livingstonia Synod of CCAP has suspended a reverend accused of slapping a mourner and causing a fracas at a funeral.

Reverend Mumba based at Unilia Ekwendeni campus has been suspended in connection to a fracas that happened at a funeral in Mzimba.

According to a source who did not want to be identified, while Mumba was preaching at the funeral, one mourner questioned why the pastor was preaching at the funeral of a polygamous man yet the church does allow polygam.

This is believed to have angered Mumba who slapped the funeral- goer, causing a fracas at the funeral ceremony.

A letter dated 27th November 2018 signed by General Secretary of the Livingstonia Synod Rev Dr Lev Nyondo said the executive committee met on 23rd November and decided to suspend Mumba.

“The executive committee meeting which was held on 23 November received a report from the disciplinary committee, it was reported that the disciplinary committee on 2nd November 2018, invited you to the meeting to recount on the incident in which you were involved in a fracas in Mzimba during a funeral ceremony.

“Following the recommendation from the discipline committee, the synod executive committee has suspended you with immediate effect, until 2019 General Assembly council meeting,” says the letter.

Mumba refused to comment on the issue when contacted.

“I am not ready for comment now give me some time I will come back to you,” he said.
