First Capital Bank U-20 league regional finals set for next week

National Youth Football Association (NYFA) has announced that regional finals for the First Capital Bank Under-20 league will be played next week.

According to a notice signed by NYFA general secretary Thokozani Chimbali, in all the three regions of Malawi the finals will be played on Saturday, 17th November.

In the Northern Region the finals are scheduled to be staged in Karonga and in the central they will be in Dedza while in the South the showpiece shall be staged in Zomba as the actual venues are yet to be revealed.

Asked whether all the 14 districts have completed their leagues, Chimbali said only three districts are remaining and they are Karonga, Zomba and Dedza.

“In most districts, champions are already known and probably the remaining ones they will be known this weekend,” said Chimbali.

In the Southern Region the already known champions are Mathambi FC from Mulanje district, Ndirande Stars from Blantyre and Inondo FC from Mangochi.

In the Central Region, champions are Silver Strikers Youth for Lilongwe, Dwangwa Factory for Nkhotakota, HM Academy for Kasungu, Likumbo for Salima and China for Mchinji.

While in the North, competition will be on teams such as Wocca Wanderers from Rumphi, Chihame from Nkhatabay and Topik Academy from Mzuzu.

Currently, the defending champions for the league at the national level are Griffin Youngsters of Blantyre who have failed to make it to the regional finals this time around.
