Facebook user Julius Zimwanda Mithi posted earlier on Thursday that the woman went to Rumphi to buy fertilizer but first went to the market where she bought foodstuffs.

When she finally got to the shop to buy fertilizer, she realised that the money which she had kept on her wrapper (chitenje) was not there but instead she found empty packets of milk.

Mithi also posted pictures of the packets and the woman crying.

Saddened by the incident, Mkandawire who is also legislator for Mzimba West offered to assist the woman.

“Find her. I will arrange to buy the K18,000.00 fertiliser she was supposed to buy. I don’t like to see women crying. Will be home weekend,” Mkandawire said.

This morning, Mkandawire sent people to deliver a bag of fertilizer and cash to the woman who is from Bwengu in Rumphi.
