A couple who got married earlier this month were on Saturday involved in an accident that left the man dead.
According to reports, the woman sustained injuries and is now in hospital.
Police have identified the man as Peter Malenga aged 37 while his wife is 32-year-old Nyenyezi Kambuwa.
According to a police report, the two were in a Toyota Dyna coming from Lumbadzi going to Lilongwe.
At central poultry along the road there were construction works happening on the road so vehicles from direction of Lumbadzi were stopped.
Malenga overtook the vehicles but due to speeding he lost control of his car and hit a Scania truck R420 which was coming from opposite direction.
The vehicle then swerved to the extreme left of the road where it stopped.
Malenga died on the way to the hospital due to multiple fractures of both legs and loss of blood. His wife sustained injuries and is in hospital.
Malenga hailed from Malinda village, Traditional Authority Champiti in Ntcheu while Kambuwa comes from Chitedze, T/A Maliri in Lilongwe.
