Devotion: Do not Procrastinate

Bible

Pro 3:28 ISV* “Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back. I will pay you tomorrow,” when you have cash with you.”

Is it supposed to be done today? If answer is yes, then do it today. Tomorrow may be too late. Procrastinstion is the tendency of pushing things forward when actually it is necessary that they be done today. When one is used to push things forward, it becomes a norm.

BibleAn employee may always tell their senior, the would do it later when actually they could do that work today.

A student waiting to handle half baked  assignment at the last hour, when they could have done a better job today. A supplier who is yet to deliver a consignment that is needed today because he is entangled in some irrelevant issues.

Sometimes christians are reluctant to immmediately minister the gospel to someone they find in a bus, plane or elsewhere and instead opt for “a convenient time”. However such a convenient time may not be found because if it is in a bus, the person drops off the next stage and will never meet them again in your life.

Paul tells Timothy not to push forward the preaching the gospel till the convenient time.2Tim 4:2 ISV* “to proclaim the message. Be ready to do this whether or not the time is convenient. Refute, warn, and encourage with the utmost patience when you teach.”

Ensure you do the thing because it is necessary to do it regardless of whether it is convenient or not. Always look at the necessity of the matter rather than the convenience to you. Dont be selfish. Give some help to somebody somewhere. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.

Confession

I refuse to proscrastinate. I will always do what is necessary  whether it is convenient or not. In Jesus name. Amen.
