WhatsApp is back online after being been hit by a major outage, stopping millions of people from using it around the world including Malawi.

The application was offline for about an hour during which people  couldn’t send or receive messages using the Facebook-owned app.

Service appears now to be gradually being restored.

  3. (General comment). In my understanding, ‘WhatsApp’ is a contraction of ‘WhatsApplication’ now here in Mw, ‘WhatsApp’ has replaced ‘what’s up’ in some brain, a form of greeting no wonder we seeing funny comments. WhatsApp ain’t what’s up!!!

  4. *WhatsApp NOT WORKING⛔ Across the World*

    WHATSAPP is down across the globe. Users are experiencing problems with the app across the world with reports coming in from Italy, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Germany, India, USA, UK and Sri Lanka.

    Independent website DownDetector, which tracks social comments around a certain topic to monitor outages across the globe, shows over a thousand of WhatsApp customers reporting issues using the app. According to the site, problems with the chat app occurred around 8 am this morning, with hundreds of people reporting issues with the app.

    DownDetector says that 60 per cent of customers are having an issue connecting to it. A further 25 per cent report issues receiving messages and 14 per cent are struggling to login. The US company is aware of the issue and working to remedy the problem. It is not yet known how long the outage may take to resolve.
