Rape Malawi

Police in Dedza have arrested a health worker for raping a patient at the Dedza district hospital.

The suspect, Thomas Banda aged 29, is reported to have raped a patient who went to the hospital for a fistula diagnosis.

Banda is reported to have offered K2000 to the patient after raping her.

The victim then reported the matter to authorities who referred her to police.

Dedza Police spokesperson Edward Kabango disclosed that the suspect has already appeared in court where he has pleaded not guilty to charge of rape.

Kabango added that the suspect told the court that he never raped the lady but they agreed to have sex.

The health worker claimed that the woman charged him K2500 but he only managed to pay K2000.

Banda comes from Kambalame village, Traditional Authority (TA) Mavwere in Mchinji district.

  1. Anthu ngati amenewa amayozetsa ntchito ya zawo iwo simbali yawo ai akanakhala eni bar ilo… bolani well educated health worker can not do that…mumangeni basi 7 years enawo atengelepo phunziro..

  2. Most Counsellors, hospital attendants, data clerks and even HSAs always make these blunders. They don’t know jack shit about work ethics. Maphunziro amakhala opelewela. Charging patients for shady services, hitting on patients, stealing drugs and other government property are the least of things they like to do.
