PP leader of delegation at the meeting Ralph Jooma, who is also the party’s Chief whip, said PP is to support the two issues once they are ready to be tabled in Parliament.

“The discussions centred on two sticky issues, the issue of 50+1 and the issue of removal of voting powers by MPs. on the issue of 50+1 as People’s Party we feel that it is a good thing, because it will help to have legitimacy of leadership,” said Jooma in an interview with Malawi24 .

He added that PP is also supporting removal of powers of MPs at council level.

“We have even suggested that if the bill is to be signed it must start working on the current MPs to show seriousness,” he added.

PAC through its publicity secretary Father Peter Mulomole has applauded PP for showing commitment to support its implementation.

“We are very impressed that they have given their position to support LGA. They have said that they don’t have an issue,” said Mulomole.

PAC has been advocating for change of LGA and electoral reforms in the country.
