Few weeks after fire destroyed a hostel at Blantyre Secondary School, the school’s alumni association has organized fundraising activities to rebuild the hostel.

According to deputy treasure of the association Lameck Kaluluma, the fundraising activities aim at sourcing money for the reconstruction of the gutted hostel.

Kaluluma said their association is looking forward to raising over K10 million.

He further said the money will also be used for the purchase of furniture for the school’s dining hall.

The deputy treasure continued by saying that the fire accident occurred at a time when the alumni association was making strides in alleviating some of the challenges the school is facing.

He said they are planning to have a big walk which will take place in Blantyre and Lilongwe on 26th August, 2017.

On 18th July, fire gutted several parts of Blantyre Secondary School including the dining hall and a hostel.
