A 44-year-old primary school teacher in the lakeshore district of Nkhotakota has hanged himself following family disputes.

According to Nkhotakota police deputy spokesperson Paul Malimwe, the teacher identified as Oliver Jinazale quarrelled with his wife and later he left home to an unknown destination.

“Hour passed without him reporting back which prompted the wife to report the matter to the headmaster of his school.

“Efforts to trace his whereabouts started same night only to find him lifeless behind Chongole primary school about 200 metres away from home,” Malimwe said.

The deceased used a string to take away his life.

Medical personnel from Nkhotakota district hospital confirmed that the death was due to strangulation.

Police are still investigating further on the matter but are advising the general public to use normal channels in solving family disputes.

The deceased Oliver Jinazale hailed from Makuta village in the area of Senior Chief Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.

  2. A teacher whom the young and the old in the community look up to, hanging himself is quite uncalled for. Who will inspire the learner about the treasure associated with nurturing life? Whom did he think would carry on with the noble profession he has abandoned? This tendency of solving problems by running away from them should not be heard at the teacher’s, in my opinion! He is way knowledgeable to do this barbaric deed. I am afraid, he has not represented his fellow workmen well…..
