Four men have been arrested in Balaka in connection to a series of burglary and theft offences that they committed in the district over the past three months.

According to Balaka police publicist, Edith Kachotsa, the law enforcers arrested the suspects following information from well-wishers who tipped them on the hideout of the culprits.

Kachotsa said the suspects are believed to have contributed to the increase in recorded cases of theft and burglary from April to June when different household items worth K2,840,000 were stolen from 10 houses.

She has since identified the four as 20-year-old Goodson Kadzuwa, Francis Bizweck Ngozo, 30-year-old Luciano Kapeya and 24-year-old Kingsley Chimimba.

During the robberies, the four stole items such as DVD players, decoder, plasma screens, radios, subwoofers, speakers, fans, curtains, and kitchen utensils.

“These have been recovered and the suspects have already started appearing before Balaka Magistrate Court,” said Kachotsa.

Meanwhile, Police in the district have commended the general public for the good spirit shown in fighting against crime.
