Zambezi Evangelical Church youth across Malawi converged at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Thyolo to enjoy the church’s first ever student conference.

With one voice of “building vibrant youth for Christ”, Zambezi Evangelical Church Student Organisation (ZECSO) conference which started on Friday and ends today saw youth being equipped in different sectors.

In a special interview with Malawi24, Zambezi Evangelical Church national youth coordinator Gift Mphongolo said the conference helped to give the right direction of investing in the youth for betterment of the future church.

“This being the first conference of its kind, as a church we believe that now we are taking the right direction of investing in the youth for the betterment of the future church. This will help the church as a whole to achieve total transformation in future,” Mphongolo explained.

The coordinator also disclosed that the participants listened to a number of presentations on spiritual and academic excellence.

He added that as organisers they deliberately chose MUST with a hidden intention.

“This event is the beginning of better things ahead and we want to make it as an annual event, we chose MUST just to give an opportunity to students to appreciate and motivate other students,” he added.

In a separate interview, Ezra Kapachika a member of ZECSO who is pursuing his Bachelors in Information Science at Mzuzu University, said as Zambezi youths they took the conference as an opportunity for them to be motivated and encouraged.

“We were imparted with skills on how we can serve God in course of our education which has been regarded as impossible by others. Furthermore we were taught of how we can live a youthful life of pleasing the creator which has been a problem among youths,” said Kapachika.

The event whose theme was emerging from the book of Psalms 119 verse 9, saw Zambezi youths from different secondary schools, constituent colleges across the nation and alumni getting involved with the aim to retain Zambezi youths and students to Zambezi evangelical church after university.
