…as Mzuni FC thump Blantyre United

A goal in each half from Misheck Botomani and Patrick Phiri inspired outstanding Premier Bet Wizards to a hard fought 2-1 away victory over Dwangwa United in a Super League match played at Chitowe Stadium on Saturday afternoon to move to within a point of leaders Be Forward Wanderers in the standings.

The visitors were coming from a 2-1 defeat at home to Moyale Barracks but made amends when Botomani scored from the spot following a foul by a Dwangwa United player, 1-0.

Wizards are now second on the log table.

The goal was a wakeup call for the home side as they started pressing harder in search for the equalizer but Blessings Joseph alongside Dennis Chembezi were very outstanding for the visitors at the back no wonder the first half ended in their favor.

Just after the recess, the hosts pulled level through Jack Chiona.

The goal came from some good work down the left flank of the field when a cross inside the penalty box caught the visitors’s defence napping, allowing Chiona to head past Francis Nkanda in goals for Trever Kajawa’s men, 1-1.

However, with less than ten minute to play on the clock, Phiri, who scored last week during the defeat to Moyale, completed the mission with a fantastic goal to send the visitors on 2nd position with 18 points points from ten games.

As for the hosts, the latest defeat leaves them in the bottom three with 8 points from ten games.

At Mzuzu Stadium, Mzuni FC bounced back in style from their recent defeats in all competitions when they thumped Blantyre United 3-1.

Hudson Milanzi opened the scoring in the first ten minutes before a Lughindiko Nlhane goal in the same half to put the game beyond the visitors’ reach before the recess.

In the second half, Gift Kasambara completed the routing with a fantastic goal before Jide Mbandambanda’s consolation goal which was not even enough to save the rookies from testing defeat.

The Blantyre based side will play their second game against Moyale Barracks at the same venue before returning back to their base.

The defeat leaves them second from bottom of the standings with 7 points from eleven games played so far.

The Super League action continues on Sunday with some exciting clashes.

At Civo Stadium, injury hit Silver Strikers will play host to Nyasa Big Bullets while Mafco FC will entertain Premier Bet Wizards FC at Chitowe Stadium.

At Mzuzu Stadium, third placed Moyale Barracks will welcome Blantyre Unite awhile Masters Security will host Be Forward Wanderers at Dedza Stadium.
