Perhaps the rise in the cost of living in Malawi pushed them to a decision to down tools, but the 10.4 percent increment promise by Agriculture Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) management has led to the workers calling of their strike.

Spokesperson for Admarc workers John Hassani said the management has promised to have arrears and salary hiked by 10.4 percent.

Hassani added that the management has promised to resolve the house allowance unrest with their management.

Earlier, Admarc workers started their strike saying they get the lowest perks of K25,000 per month as compared to workers in other parastatals.

The workers also worried of getting just K2,500 as house allowance at the eye of the current economic glitches that have seen accommodation costs also being raised.

The management later promised to have the demands met but it was reported that the promise was yet to be implemented by management a development that led the workers to a strike again.
