Premier Bet Wizards are returning to Blantyre from Mzuzu with maximum points following a hard fought 1-nil victory over Mzuni FC at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Wizards’ in form striker Misheck Botomani scored the only goal from the spot to send his team top of the standings with 15 points from 8 games played so far.

Wizards lead on the standings.

The Green Intellectuals started the league on a high note but they are now finding it very hard to collect points even at home where they are usually dangerous especially in the first round.

As usual, they started their match against Wizards on a high note but found themselves 1-nil down when Botomani scored from the spot following a foul in the penalty box.

Wizards were coming from a 1-all draw against Nyasa Big Bullets last week.

At Chiwembe Stadium, Dwangwa United came from behind twice to beat struggling Blantyre United 2-1.

The home side took an early lead thanks to John Chibaya’s goal.

However, lack of concentration at the back allowed the visitors to pull level in the same half through Hassan Upindi before completing the job in the second half courtesy of a Gracian Chinkhande’s goal.

However, the result has not changed anything as Dwangwa United are in the bottom three with 8 points from 8 games while Blantyre United are on position 15 with 4 points from the same number of games.

This was the second defeat for the rookies in a row as they are coming from a 1-nil defeat to Blue Eagles last week at their own backyard.

At Civo Stadium, Civil Sporting Club and Blue Eagles shared one point apiece in a six goal thriller.

Mphatso Philemon scored a hat trick for the visitors while Raphael Phiri, Fletcher Bandawe and Righteous Banda scored a goal each for the home side.

It was an entertaining match as Philemon opened the scoring for the Area 30 based side but Civil pulled back in the same half through Phiri.

The hosts then took their lead through Bandawe but Philemon came again to the rescue of Eagles with another fantastic goal.

Just when everybody thought the game was ending in a draw, Banda restored Civil’s lead with a tap in from close range to make it 3-2.

However, the drama was not yet over as Philemon netted his third on the day to rescue Eagles from a defeat.

The result takes Eagles to 6th position with 12 points from 8 games while Civil are on position 12 with 8 points from the same number of games.

The action continues on Sunday with other exciting fixtures.

At MDC Stadium, Be Forward Wanderers will play host to Azam Tigers while Masters Security will travel to Mzuzu at Mzuzu Stadium to play Moyale Barracks.

At Chitowe Stadium, an all Soldiers’ affair will see Mafco FC playing host to Super League defending champions Kamuzu Barracks while Red Lions will be at Balaka Stadium to play Dwangwa United FC.
