Kalekeni Kaphale, Goodall still in their offices – Dausi

Minister of Information Nicholas Dausi who is also government spokesperson has refuted social media reports that Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe and Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale have been fired from their positions.

Speaking to the local media, Dausi said no change has been made pertaining to positions of Finance Minister and Attorney General (AG).

Dausi says the two still hold their posts.

“Government under the leadership of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has not fired or dismissed the Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe, so whoever is planning, conspiring, plotting to create this unfortunate rumour in the social media is doing injustice and this is erroneous since government appointments are announced through the office of the president and cabinet,” Dausi said.

On Attorney General, Dausi said despite Kaphale’s contract ending today, so far President Mutharika has not said anything on this and it is wrong to say that Kaphale has been dismissed or fired.

“Let us give constitutional order to prevail. The president and the cabinet will make a procedural right process of any appointment whether be it renewal or new appointment is to be communicated but nobody should speculate and spread wrong reports that are not true,” Dausi said.

Mutharika appointed both Gondwe and Kaphale after winning 2014 tripartite elections.
