Mount Mulanje Potters Race organizing committee has pleaded for more financial support from the corporate world in order to make the event successful.

This year’s event will take place on 8 July at Likhubula in Mulanje where 500 runners are expected to take part in the 25 kilometre race.

And with weeks to go before the event, Kondwani Chamwala, who is the organising committee chairperson, said preparations are on track but he was quick to plead for more financial support from the corporate world.

Kondwani Chamwala: We are appealing for support.

Speaking in an interview with Malawi24, Chamwala said:
“Preparations are going on very well as we have checked the route to avoid danger zones. We are expecting a thrilling race from all corners of the world because from the past experience, a lot of people have fallen in love with this event.”

On financial support, he said:
“The biggest challenge we have now is to get partners in order to make the race exciting. We are appealing to the corporate world to partner us so that we are financially stable for the event.

“So far, we have seen 37 international participants registering for the race and we are still expecting more.”

Last year’s winner from male category Leo Chakhaza and Doreece Fischer from women’s category are expected to take part in the event.
