A Roman Catholic Bishop has hailed President Peter Mutharika for his intervention in issues surrounding the closure of Chancellor College and the nationwide teachers’ strike.

Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of Blantyre Archdiocese has said Mutharika did well by resolving the issues hence ending the teachers’ sit-in and Chancellor College lecturers’ strike.

Msusa made the remarks at Iba Primary School in Mangochi during celebrations for his silver jubilee in priesthood.

“Government has done a good job by resolving the wrangles that marred our education sector and the move made by government giving teachers their leave grants is commendable,” said Bishop Msusa.

He further hailed president Mutharika for embracing freedom of worship in the country.

Msusa urged religious leaders to focus on preaching the word of God rather than castigating other churches saying the churches serve one God.

He also urged traditional leaders to encourage unity and peace among their people in order for development to continue in their areas.
