Holiday declared on Monday

The Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has announced that this year’s Eid ul-Fitr celebrations marking the end of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan will be observed either on Sunday or Monday.

The development means that Monday will be a public holiday.

According to a press statement from ministry of local government and rural development made available to Malawi24, the development is depending on the sighting of the moon.

The statement which has been signed by the ministry’s press Secretary Kiswell Dakamau indicates that the moon will be sighted either on Sunday or Monday.
