Red Lions remain top of the league.

The lions marked the genesis of the flagship campaign on 7th May with a resounding 4-1 victory against promoted side Blantyre United, in a match played at Zomba Community Centre Ground. The Soldiers displayed an amazing soccer show to mark a flying start to the campaign.

Then they failed to impress in the following matches against Wizards FC and Mzuzu University respectively as they only managed to grab a point from each assignment. The two games ended in a one all draw.

Glory returned in the old capital on 28th may when the military side recorded a one nil victory away to Chitipa United in Mzuzu. In the following match against police side, Blue eagles, the soldiers managed to grab maximum points with a comfortable 3 nil win at Baraka Stadium thereby strengthening the grip at the top of the table.

Last Sunday the Zomba giants were looking forward to make a triumphant return to Baraka, motivated by the need to remain at the top. Although they failed to correct maximum points as the match ended up in a goalless draw against Azam Tigers, no opposition was strong enough to see them out of the top sport.

Peter Mponda`s boys Wizards FC has found comfort in the second position with 11 points from their six assignments. Their last fixture was against Mighty Beforward Wanderers at Mulanje Park. The youthful side went down by a goal to nil, to give up their chances of taking over leadership position from Red Lions.

Things are all rosy for Beforward Wanderers who have won 2 out of 2 games in the campaign. They managed to savage a 1 nil victory in both encounters, against the defending champions Kamuzu Barracks and Wizzards FC which leaves them in 9th position with 6 points.

The nomads are three steps ahead of kamuzu Barracks who despite playing more games are in 11th position of the table.

Anchoring the 16 team log table are Northern Region based rookies, Chitipa United, having managed to get only a point from 6 games.
