RBM to sensitise Malawians on new K2000

The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) says it will continue sensitising Malawians on the features of the new 2000 kwacha note.

This is coming after the bank note went into circulation on Monday.

Reserve Bank of Malawi spokesperson Mbane Ngwira said the bank has its teams to sensitize people and other stakeholders on the coming of the new currency.

He added that the response on the sensitization has been positive and as RBM they will continue to civic educate people on the new note. Ngwira further said that the note has features that would allow visually impaired people to handle it without problems.

According to Ngwira, the features on the new note have been done in corroboration with the Malawi Union for the Blind in order to let those who are visually impaired to identify the note.

“We have made several categories to make sure that those who are visually impaired would be able to feel the note and cannot be tricked,” said Ngwira.

He finally advised Malawians to handle currency well when using it in various events.
