Tnm super league relegation battle run in; who will face the chop?

Fisd Wizards

With MTV Max Bullets already relegated from the Malawi’s top flight league, three other teams are in danger of relegation from the Tnm super league as the season enters its final weeks.

Dwangwa United having already secured their status in the league, Premier Be Wizards, Karonga United and Civo United are all in bottom four that is marooned by three points adrift from the rest of the division.

With three games to go before we wind up the 2016 Tnm super league season, Malawi24 takes a closer look at the relegation run-in and analyse who has the best chance of staying up in the top flight league. How they stand, the bottom four super league teams

P             P      GD     Points

13 Wizards 26 -26 27

14 Karonga Utd 27 -30 24

15 Civo United 26 -15 21

16 Maxi Bullets 28 -46 8

Bottom four remaining fixtures

Thirteenth placed Premier Bet Wizards have two games to wind up their season they will play against Moyale Barracks at home and Red Lions away from home while Karonga United which is laying fourteenth on the table has three games to play to wrap up their season against Epac fc and Silver Strikers away from home and Kamuzu Barracks at home.

Whereas fifteenth placed Civo United are remain remaining with three games against Mafco fc and Nyasa Big Bullets, and MTV Maxi Bullets at home whilst already relegated MTV Maxi Bullets have two fixtures to wrap up their season. They are supposed play against Azam Tigers and Civo United but with their withdrawal, these games are not taking place and the other teams are guaranteed of the three points.

On paper, it appears that Karonga United and Peter Mponda’s Wizards have the hardest run-in of the bottom four as Karonga will play against two teams who are also fighting for this years championship.

Wizards will also have a tough run as they will play against two teams that are also fighting to finish in the top 8 of this season Tnm super league and they are to ensure their place in the top flight league they have to win all their remaining fixtures or they have to be hopping that Civo and Karonga United should lose all their remaining fixtures.

Meanwhile Civo United, if they are to survive the chop they will need to get as many points on the board as early as possible, because their Next opponent is Mafco fc at Chitowe stadium and Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu stadium in Blantyre.

MTV Maxi Bullets L L L LL

With Max Bullets not playing their remaining matches Civo United have the worst form in the division.

Wizards have the second worst form of the three teams which are fighting relegation but can at least take solace from the fact that their points total was handsomely bolstered by good results in the first half of the season.

Karonga United’s form is only marginally better and unless they can turn it around and go on the sort of run Alex Ngwira’s Mzuni fc produced last season in their last six games, Karonga chances of staying up are virtually nil despite being the only team in the bottom four having strong momentum having corrected six points from their last five matches having winning two but they will have to pray for Heaven if they are to survive the chop this season.

Conclusions There is no dressing up the desperation of Civo United’s plight. They are five points from safety; their form is terrible; they still have to play Mafco and Nyasa Big Bullets and ultimately, it will be a huge shock if they stay up in the Tnm super league.

Aston Villa need a huge turn in form to stand any chance of survival Premier Bet Wizards’s form is just as bad but they at least are in sight of safety.

However, Peter Mponda’s side need to find form urgently if they want to avoid being marooned along with Max Bullets.

Karonga United have picked up six points from their last five games, which isn’t a great deal, but it’s more than the teams below and above them have managed and if they can keep that steady flow going, it may be enough to stay up.

They also have to sake God’s helped as they also have the toughest run-in as they will play Epac and Silver Strikers away at Civo stadium and Silver stadium respectively and Kamuzu Barracks at Mzuzu stadium.

Who do you think has the toughest run-in in the relegation battle and who do you think will survive the chop this season?
