Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has fined Nyasa Big Bullets FC K400 000 for the incident that happened during the team’ goalless draw against Azam Tigers on 23 October at Kamuzu Stadium.
According to Sulom, soon after the referee blew the final whistle, Bullets supporters led by Fecton Mpini and Ernest (Culture) invaded the pitch and the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms where they assaulted the officiating personnel.
After this incident, Sulom then requested reports from stakeholders that led to summon Bullets to a disciplinary hearing on 3rd November and 6th December 2016.
Bullets was represented by General Secretary Kelvin Moyo, Treasurer Alex Gondwe and Willie Phalula.

During the hearing, Bullets representatives failed to defend themselves but only disowned the mentioned supporters as their members saying a Bullets supporter is the one who was duly registered.
According to Sulom, Bullets officials made it clear that the implicated members were not registered with the club.
However, the committee, which was led by Patrick Kapanda, found Bullets guilty of all charges laid against them.
According to Sulom, a supporter of a club is not determined by him being registered with the concerned club as stated un Article 21 of the Sulom Rules and Regulations. According to Sulom, Article 21.3 of the Sulom Rules and Regulations prescribes a maximum fine of K500 000 for offences stated above.
However, according to Sulom, the normal flow of the match was not disturbed since the match was concluded and there was no any report of damages to the facility presented during the hearing and there was no evidence of bodily harm to the officiating personel and it was the first time that the club is facing the charges above.
“Thus in line with Article 21 (3) of Sulom Rules and Regulations, we accordingly fine Nyasa Big Bullets the sum of K400 000 payable before their next league fixture,” reads part of the statement. Efforts to speak to the team’ officials proved futile.
