Dwangwa United won the encounter of relegation contenders as they beat Premier Bet Wizards 2-0 at Chitowe stadium in Nkhotakota on Saturday afternoon.

The match started on an impressive note as both Dwangwa and Peter Mponda’s side were displaying classic football but it was the home side who threatened with Jack Chiona and Cuthbert Kanyama Sineta having most scoring chances.

Midway through the first half, Sineta scored the first goal of the match and it was 1 nil in favour of the Nkhotakota based side.

After that goal, the Chilomoni based side Wizards began building strong momentum as their midfield led by Blessings Phiri and Patrick Phiri started ticking. They created several scoring chances but their strikers lacked a killer punch.

As the first half was going towards the end, Wizard FC kept on dominating much of the proceedings as they were in search for the equalising goal but Dwangwa defended jealously and the half ended 1 nil in favour of the home side.

After recess, both sides came in with fresh ideas but it was McDonald Mtetemera’s vibes that proved to be working as Dwangwa United scored their second goal of the match.

Despite Wizard’s dominance for the good part of the game, Dwangwa United held on until the final whistle to beat the Chilomoni based side 2 nil.

After the match Dwangwa coach Mtetemera thanked his boys for the win whereas Wizard Technical Director Peter Mponda said his team will bounce back from the loss when they take on Mafco FC this afternoon at Chitowe stadium in Nkhotakota.
