Women in the country have been urged to report any police officer who infringes on their rights.
The plea has been made by Zomba Police Station Assistant Superintendent Clement Majawa.
Majawa expressed that the idea came in as one way of reducing gender based violence in the country. He said women are facing a lot of gender based violence due to lack of the law enforcers’ intervention on the matter.
However, he noted that the police should protect women from violence at any cost. He further explained that law enforcers are not supposed to be at the forefront when it comes to perpetrating gender based violence.
The law enforcers therefore encouraged women to report any police officer who shall be found violating their rights.
Over the past years, sex workers have been complaining that cops sexually and physically abuse them when the law enforcers round up the prostitutes at night.
