Chikwawa South Member of Parliament, Illias Karim, says he will cut short parliamentary deliberations in order to assist his constituents who have been displaced by heavy rains.
On Monday,heavy rains accompanied by strong winds destroyed hundreds of peoples houses including government infrastructures and injured 11 people in the process.
The victims,according to Area Civil Protection Committee for T/A Masache,have been accommodated in schools and churches where they are seriously facing a number of challenges.
However,speaking to Malawi24 on Wednesday,Member of Parliament for the area, Karim,says he is going to cut short the deliberations that are currently under way at the National Assembly in order to help the people.
Karim said he has engaged some partners to assist him with food and non food items in order to help the people.
However,the Law maker has appealed to well wisher to come in with their assistance to uplift the victims.
Meanwhile,over 60 households from Nsangwe,Lombe,Ng’ombe and the surrounding areas have been hit hard by the heavy rains.
