Msonda denies receiving 13 million from DPP: insists God is his political director

Ken Msonda

Controversial former People’s Party (PP) publicity secretary Ken Msonda has denied claims that he solicited K13 million bribe from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to dump the orange family.

Speaking in an interview, Msonda said people are spreading the rumours only to tarnish his image, which he described as good. “God is my political director. He directed me to dump PP and join DPP without even being bribed by anyone,” he said.

Msonda, a self proclaimed born again Christian, insisted that he interacted with God and prayed for the decision to join DPP and God directed him to do so.

He added that before arriving at the decision he also had to consult people he trust, including his family.

“I involved many people before arriving at the decision. Many people said I should join DPP, so that I should help in sorting out some of the problems Malawians are facing in the country,” he added.

Msonda further shrugged off allegations that President Mutharika invited him for an in camera discussion abroad.

“Some of you are spreading rumours that our beloved president Peter Mutharika, bribed me to be his tool against Kamlepo Kalua. That is not true. I have always been a politician and I contested against him in the previous elections. Why should I be an instrument of someone now? We are proud of Kamlepo Kalua in Rumphi East and I have no plan fashioned against him,” Msonda stressed.

Msonda also claimed that he knows the people who are spreading rumours to destroy his reputation. He warned that if they continue minding his business, he will expose them and he will reveal the real reasons why he dumped the former ruling People’s Party.

“I know the one who is funded by some people to be denting my reputation. However, he is a child and I can’t mind his business. But if he continues, I will expose him. I know he is based in South Africa,” he said.

Msonda, further urged Malawians to refrain from believing in lies.
