Multichoice Malawi says it is making an input in getting more local music videos to Trace TV Africa by the end of this year.

This follows the content provider’s approval of some music videos from Malawi for airplay, two days ago. Trace has accepted music visuals from artists, Bucci, Theo Thompson, Trumale, and Dali.

Sales and marketing manager for Multichoice Malawi Chimwemwe Nyirenda was quoted as telling a local publication yesterday that they have targeted on sending at least 20 songs by the end of this year.

“Our target is to get at least 20 music videos on the channel by the end of this year. We believe most Malawian artists will now bring their music videos after seeing more videos from Malawi,” said Nyirenda

He also hailed the Trace TV Africa team for giving feedback on some locally produced videos that have been rejected. He said this will help them to communicate to artists whose visuals have been rejected on areas to improve their work if they are to feature on the channel.

Trace Television is a channel on Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) which was launched in September to provide a platform for Southern African artists to showcase their skills. Since it started running, only a few Malawian artists have had the opportunity to be featured.

The music videos that have been recently approved for airing by the channel are, Disappear by Bucci, Goods Tender by Bucci and Charlie, Reggae is in my veins by Trumale, Magic and Wings by Theo Thompson and Angelina by Dali. These art works join Tay Grin’s Chipapapa and Zani Challe’s Single Tonight, as they fly the Malawian flag on the continental platform.

Local artists are being urged to submit their music videos in High Definition, MP4 format, as per Trace TV’s required standard. The videos should be submitted at Multichoice offices in Lilongwe and Blantyre.
