The Roads Authority (RA) says it is making strides to renovate part of Balaka-Salima which was recently destroyed by heavy rains.
Spokesperson for the Roads Authority Portia Kajanga said the works to maintain the road is going on well and soon people will use the road.
She added that those people who usually use the road should use other alternative roads until the reconstruction is complete.
“’Indeed the rains have washed away the Balaka-Salima road but as the Roads Authority we are making strides to make sure that the reconstruction is finished soon so that people continue using the road,” said Kajanga.
She added that they were already doing some construction works at the road as they knew that during rainy season the rains might wash it away.
Kajanga further said that the Roads Authority is also extending the road apart from renovating the damaged part in order to let any kind of vehicle to use the road.
She also advised road users that for the meantime they should use the M1 road in order to avoid accidents that may occur due to other risky roads.
