Secretary general for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Eckleni Kudontoni will be buried today in his home district in Salima.
Kudontoni died after being involved in a car accident on Thursday along the Kasungu road while travelling to Karonga for a party function.
DPP spokesperson Francis Kasaila confirmed that Kudontoni is to be buried today in Salima under the Islamic faith.
“So far the body has been moved from Kasungu to Lilongwe and burial will take place Friday in Salima. We are expecting that around 7:30 and 8 O’clock in the morning we will be moving the body from Lilongwe to Salima,” said Kasaila.
Meanwhile the DPP leader Peter Mutharika has expressed shock at Kudontoni’s death describing the demise as untimely.
In a statement following Kudontoni’s death, Mutharika said that the party has lost its giant who was beside the party at any time and who also contributed massively to the party’s victory in the 2014 elections
