Nomads hit four past Epac

Be Forward Wanderers produced a stunning second half performance to beat Epac fc 4-1 in a 2016 Tnm Super League encounter at Kamuzu stadium in Blantyre on Sunday afternoon.

Two goals from Peter Wadabwa and a goal each from Joseph Kamwendo and Alfred Manyozo Junior were enough to move the Nomads four points behind Tnm Super League Nyasa Big Bullets who are topping the table with 45 points.

The match started on an intensive note as both Epac and the Nomads were in hunt for early goals in the opening stages of the match but they all guarded their posts well.

Epac fc could have taken the lead inside the opening five minutes when their midfielders led by Francis Nkonda, Innocent Tanganyika, Hastings Kapenuka and Josophat Kwalira started a good move but Chiletso Zoya and Fabio Kapande upfront lacked the killer instinct.

A few minutes later, the Lali Lubani side started building some momentum as their veteran midfielder Joseph Kamwendo helped them build confidence in counterattacks and they started putting Epac fc defence under pressure with Wadabwa producing good runs.

Sixteen minutes into the game Joseph Kamwendo was fouled outside the penalty area and he stepped up for the challenge and made no mistake when he scored Nomads’ first from the resulting free kick with an excellent strike.

After that goal, the Nomads kept on dominating possession but it was Epac who looked more dangerous in counterattacks.

In the 22nd minute, Epac striker Chiletso Zoya capitalised on a Luis Minjale error to tap the ball over the head of Nomads goalkeeper Valence Kamzere and Epac were level. After the Epac fc goal, both sides held on as their defenders defended jealously and the first half ended 1-1.

After the break, the Nomads came in as a better side knowing that a win will close the gap with the league leaders and their hardworking spirit was paid off inside the opening five minutes of the first half when Manyozo scored their second, leaving Epac fc goalkeeper Tione Tembo wondering as to what had happened.

After that goal, the 2016 Carlsberg cup champions raised the tempo of the game when their midfield led by Kamwendo, Felix Zulu, Manyozo and Mike Kaziputa started ticking and attacked the Epac fc defence.

On 58 minutes, the Nomads top goal scorer in all competitions Wadabwa headed in the Nomads’ third to put the game beyond the reach of the Lilongwe Super League side and 3-1 it was.

Two minutes later, the Nomads bulldozer was at it again when headed his second and Nomads’ fourth of the afternoon after Epac fc defenders led by Jas Kamanga, Christopher Kautsire, Andrew Banda and Willard Dickson were caught napping in the line of duty.

Epac fc coach responded to those two goals by bringing in Lanken Mwale and Madalitso Longer on the places of Fabio who was ineffective for Epac and Kwalira whereas the Nomads coach Yasin Osman brought in Amos Bello and Foster Namwera on the places of Jabulani Linje and Minjale.

Midway through the second half, the Nomads coach was forced to make another change when his striker Peter Wadabwa collided with an Epac defender and he replaced him with Khumbo Ng’ambi.

Shortly after being introduced into the game, Ng’ambi could have increased the Nomads lead but he was denied by Tembo in goals for Epac fc and the match ended 4-1 in favour of the Nomads.

Speaking to the media after the game, Epac coach Makonyola conceded defeat and said his defenders cost them the game whereas Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira was delighted with the win and said his boys played according to instructions.

In another Super League match played at MDC stadium, Peter Mponda’s Wizards beat Mzuni fc 2-1 with Patrick Phiri and Kondwani Majoni scoring for Wizards whereas Hudson Milanji scored the consolation goal for Mzuni.
