The Lilongwe high court is today expected to hear the cashgate case for former Malawi Defense Force (MDF) Commander Henry Odillo who is suspected to have swindled K5 billion.
Odillo and five other suspects are to answer charge of misappropriating public money from 2012 up to 2013 during the reign of self-exiled Malawi leader Joyce Banda.
Confirming to the local press, Judiciary spokesperson Mlenga Mvula said the court is set to take the case for proceeding from Friday in Lilongwe.
“Friday has been set for plea and pronouncement of case directions starting from 11 am”. Said Mvula.
He added that one suspect Alexander Banda, is to be tried from South Africa upon completion of the legal process on the matter.
Odillo is among public officers who are reported to have defrauded Malawi government on dubious transactions.
