Blantyre man stabs friend to death at drinking joint
Police in Malawi’s commercial city of Blantyre have arrested a 26 year-old man for stabbing to death his friend at a drinking joint at Chileka township in the city.
The suspect John Komwe is reported to have used a knife to stab his friend at Muhuru market bar in Chileka.
Confirming to Malawi24, Chileka police spokesperson Grace Mwale said the deceased, Lesten Mbewe, 22, had a fight with the suspect at the bar.
“The suspect then produced a knife and stabbed his friend as they failed to come to a conclusion on their misunderstanding,” said Mwale.
Postmortem results from Mlambe hospital revealed the deceased died due to hemorrhagic shock as the sharp object raptured his heart.
The suspect is yet to appear in court to answer charges of murder contrary to section 210 of the penal code.
Komwe comes from Majawa village, Traditional Authority (TA) Mlumbe in Zomba district while the deceased hailed from Chimtengo village,TA Makata in Blantyre.
