Ready to rock.

13 beautiful ladies make the final list. They will compete in six categories namely Zachimalawi, Profession, Brand Exhibition, Casual, Dinner and Talent. From these, the top 5 will battle it out in the very do or die category where judges will take them through a quiz to assess their thinking abilities.

Headlining act on the night is Lulu & Mathumela Band. Lulu will perform a week after his impressive performance at the Sand Music Festival in the past week. Apart from Lulu, there will also be music performances from Blaze, Queen B, LCee, Sil C, Twin M, Steve Spesho and Wesley. There will also be Stand-up comedy from Malawi’s best, Mr. Jokes.  Poetry completes the package with Hudson Abengo Chamasowa and Faith Pinky Ice also ready to mesmerise the patrons.

“The night promises fireworks as the girls are all ready and have organised a lot of creative activities that will both entertain the patrons but also give judges a very tough time to pick the best from the crop” Said Daniel Ngwira, Miss Blantyre Organising Chairman.

So far, auditions were conducted twice to allow judges ample time to identify only the very best. As of today, the ladies have undergone several trainings including mentorship skills. Daphney Allidah Namame, Founder and Director for Your Image, a Psychology company aimed at among others helping individuals identify themselves and their potentials has been key to the process. According to the consultant, the girls’ response has been very overwhelming and should it materialise on the Miss Blantyre night this Friday, judges will surely have a very difficult task.

“For example, in Zachimalawi, unlike the past where models paraded in traditional outfit, we have grown past that and challenged each to limit their innovation from within Malawi, hence to show us how much they can best represent the country. And, for brand exhibition, models are mostly hired as ambassadors in various commercial and charitable activities. Therefore, we would like them to compete in this art to see who has the best guts to comprehend these qualities with pride of the City of Blantyre” Ngwira added.

Commenting on the event security, Miss Blantyre 2016 has been boosted by Safeguard Security Services which is offering maximum security both inside and outside the event. According to the Managing Director for Safeguard, Mr. James Busille, patrons should feel free to come with spouses, kids and families in general as his company has deployed their best kit to ensure the event enjoys the beauty of its own right and command.  Safeguard Security Services is also supporting one of the contestants in the profession category.

At the door, patrons will have a rare privilege to pose for the camera for a professional photo shoot as Sparkling Photography shall lead them through the process. Being a red carpet event, it is expected that patrons will dress to kill enough and challenge the cameras.

Miss Blantyre finalists this year include Priscilla Kumbambe who is also Miss Polytechnic, Hellen Chiku Student at PACT College, Myrah Khoza, MIJ, Clara Makhuwa, NRC student, Tadala Kwelepeta, administrator, Hannah Mhone, an HR practitioner, Yvonne Chanza, high school graduate, Memory Chaheka and Chimwemwe Khembo BIU students, Taweni Louis, MIT, Zannie Thoko Ulili, administrator, Victoria Mhone and Upile Sadick, students.
