…Tsar Leo in hot race for Music Video of the year.
Mayor of Blantyre City His Lordship Noel Chalamanda will attend the long awaited Urban Music Party fashion show on Saturday.
According to a press statement signed by the UMP publicity secretary Kipho Loka, the UMP awards has a series of activities before the main event which is scheduled for Sunday 6th November this weekend.
The activities are set to start tomorrow Friday 4th November with a DJ showdown at Basement where top DJs will showcase their skills and few selected urban artists will perform at the pre-festival.
The pre- festival will continue on Saturday night where top fashion designers such as Nzika Wear, Alinafe, Vivietta, Tavari, Homegrown Lifestyles, Nyalisa Wear, Base and Maur designers will be showcasing their designs.
On Saturday there will also be awards for media practitioners from print, radio, television, and online media as well as for DJs who played a role in promoting entertainment in the country over the past year.
Not only that, there will also be performances by several artists including Theo Thomson, Bucci, and Pop Dog before the main show at BAT grounds on Sunday 6th November.
Speaking to the publication, one of the organisers of UMP festival Ken Zizwa of Nde’feyo entertainment said all is set for the festival which has nurtured a lot of talents in the country since its inception in the county. Former Malawian Big Brother representative Code Sangala and Radio 2 DJ Juliet Royo are to host the pre-festival.
Meanwhile, the organisers of UMP awards are yet to announce the artist whom they said is going to be a surprise but they have since called upon all entertainment lovers in the country to attend and appreciate home talent.
One of the hot categories is the Music Video of the Year.
In the category, blossoming talent Tsar Leo has been nominated in the music video of the year slot for his smash hit, The Other Side, which features Zach.
He among other producers worked with BFB and Sukez on audio and video respectively. The two producers are also up for honours in producers’ categories.
Tsar Leo will be competing against Tay Grin, Zani Challe, Malinga Mafia, and Dan Lu. Being an up and coming artist who has being grouped with local music greats, the singer cum rapper is keeping his fingers closed.
