Collen Nkhulambe came off the bench to help Nyasa Big Bullets hold Red Lions to a 3-3 all draw on Monday afternoon at Kamuzu stadium.

Both Nyasa Big Bullets and Red Lions started the TNM Super League encounter on an impressive note but it was Red Lions who first broke the deadlock on the 20th minute of the first half when Kelvin Katema tapped in Peter Makwale free kick which was played from outside the box.

After that goal, the Zomba based soldiers kept on dominating the proceedings at Kamuzu stadium as Nyasa Big Bullets midfielders were not ticking.

Midway through the second half Red Lions doubled their lead when Loti Chawinga was set in a one on one situation with the Nyasa Big Bullets goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe and he made no mistake with his final touch.

A few minutes later the soldiers were reduced to ten men when referee in charge of the game, Kananji, showed a second yellow card to Chawinga after he dived outside the penalty box.

A minute before the end of the first half Chiukepo Msowoya could have pulled a goal back for the People’s Team but his shot was cleared off the line by a Red Lions defender and 2-0 it ended in the first half.

After the break, Nyasa Big Bullets came in with fresh ideas as they were in search for their most vital goals of the afternoon.

Five minutes after recess Bullets’ hard working spirit paid off when Muhammad Sulumba pulled a goal back after he jumped beyond everyone in the Soldiers’ penalty area to head the ball into the net.

After that goal Bullets kept on pressurising the Soldiers but the Lions were too strong at the back.

Twelve minutes into the second half the visitors scored their third goal when Peter Makwale capitalised on a Miracle Gabeya blunder inside the Bullets 18 yard box and it was 3-1 in favour of the men in uniform.

Midway through the second half Chiukepo Msowoya scored Bullets’ second goal through another header, this time from a Joseph Anzeru corner kick.

After that goal, Big Bullets supporters produced a lot of noise at the Kamuzu stadium that helped Bullets players to keep on pressurising the Soldiers’ defence as they were in search of an equaliser.

In the dying minutes of the second half Bullets coach introduced Collen Khulambe on the place of Dalitso Sailesi and a few minutes later Khulambe levelled the scoreline.

The defending champions however failed to find the winner as the Soldiers held on and the game ended 3-all.

After the match Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmael congratulated Red Lions for demonstrating good football at Kamuzu stadium. Ishmael also thanked his boys for a point earned.

On his part Red Lions coach Prichard Mwansa said Loti Chawinga’s red card affected them but he hailed his boys for holding Big Bullets.

  5. I beg to differ with you, Nkhulambe wasn’t the saviour rather the biased Referee. And that’s what is killing the beautiful game of soccer.
