Mother’s day celebrations claim ten lives

Like other people wishing to celebrate motherly love, they made it to Lake Malawi not knowing they are to go back in coffins after drowning in Salima district on Sunday afternoon.

Salima police has confirmed that four people drowned in the district as they were celebrating mother’s day.

DrownSpokesperson for the police in the district Gift Chitowe disclosed that among the four, three are men and one a woman. The four travelled from Lilongwe to the lakeshore side to seek fun.

“It was yesterday when we received reports that some four people were missing and we mobilized locals to search for them but we didn’t get them,” said Chitowe.

He added that the bodies were later found floating near Boaboa cottage in Sengabay.

The police have since sent the bodies to Salima district hospital for postmortem.

In another accident, six people have died after a minibus they were traveling in overturned due to a burst tyre along Lilongwe-Salima road on Sunday.

Confirming on the local press, Dowa police spokesperson Richard Kaponda said three people died at Katengeza village where the accident occurred while three others died upon arriving at the hospital.

Kaponda added that the driver lost control of the minibus registration number NN7257 due to a burst tyre when they were traveling from Mother’s Day celebrations.

Hello friends, my name is Esther Mashabai was one of those millions of people living with HIV/AIDS, i received my breakthrough with the help of Doctor Abumen whom i met through the testimony of someone he has helped, after some series of conversation with the person sharing the testimony i decided to contact Doctor Abumen which i did, after some negotiation he sent me the medicine with an instruction on how to use it, i notice some change in my body when using the medicine, after completing the dose as instruct i went for test only to be confirm negative by the doctor after the result came out, words on the internet can not express it all, if you are in the same condition and you are looking for a way out of it you can contact DR ABUMEN on his email address,(doctorabumen@gmail.com), or you can call or whatsapp via +2347085071418

Most women misbehave on this day even some marriage’s were shaken on this day, I can’t believe seeing women in only t_shirt without pants, body worst full of mikanda which is not even accepted by our culture, smoking under the influence of neba, please even azunga have swimming materials of which putting it on can be safe for photos and others, ZILUBWERA mochedwa, ur were not our mothers on this day some of you but prostitute day,May God guide you and show u how mother maria was holy like. 12. God punished unnecessary people
You can’t go to the beach if you don’t know how they swim
Only your family they will cry for you .
Next other people you must learn from this damn mistake

  13. Sad why should people go to the lake knowing they are drunk instead of spending the day with their mothers or taking them for lunch, see where this ended them.My condolences to their families.only God will judge

  14. Misunderstanding of this celebration, without going to the lake it will be somethng else different to the name of that celebration, thats what u think, and 90 percent who found and celebrate with u to that lake are not your motherz rather your loverz, other people’s wife, your girl frnd’s mother etc while your mother aliphee ku kudzula denje kumudzi kwanu uko and she doesn’t even knw about that day. If u want to celebrate that u have to celebrate in style with your mum, go to the village and celebrate with her there, kungowayendela kumudzi ko Amayi wo amasangalala akakuona kuti wawakumbukila kumudzi ko popita kukawaona!

  17. Who told you that mothers day means going to the lake swimming while drunk ,,,driving while drinking beer and going out with someone’s wife and husbands – leaving mothers eating khwanya enjoying in their name,,,,,shame may God think twice where your soul”s should go
