While on the other side Civo relied on the services of Duncan Mkandawire between two poles, Wyson Nkhana, Raghous Banda, Dan Msimuko, Richard Chande, Nelson Kangunje, Vincent Nyaungulu and Raphael Phiri to run around in search for the golden three points.

Wanderers opened the scoring through former TP Mazembe star Josephy Kamwendo’s 40th minute free kick which passed Mkandawire into the back of the net.

In the second half, substitute Amos Belo doubled the lead with a shot from close range before Nelson ‘Silencer’ Kangunje got a consolation for Civo.

The game ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors.

After the match, team manager for Mighty Wanderers Steven Madeira said the game was a tough one since Civo showed that they wanted points.

“Civo is a good team but they were only unlucky they lost, we all needed three points but I think we needed three points most than them, I thank my boys they put it in the very good shift,” said Madeira

On the other side coach for Civo Service United Charles Manda said his side played well in the second half but he faulted his team for giving more respect to Wanderers.

“My boys were lacking communication at one time, they were giving more respect to their opponents, so I told them to change for we are equal,” Manda explained.

Mighty Wanderers who will play against Kamuzu Barracks today at Civo stadium have now moved to 6th position on the log table with 32 points while Civo are on position 12 with 19 points.
