Nyasa Big Bullets Team Manager Rahim Ishmael has sent a strong warning to fellow Super League contenders that his side are now coming to reclaim their title.
Speaking in the aftermath of Bullets’ 1-nil victory over cross town rivals Be Forward Wanderers on Saturday afternoon at Kamuzu Stadium, Ishmael said the defending league champions are now eyeing the top spot for the first time this season and possibly defend the title they won last season.
“We have never been at the top this season but we are now vying for that position. To our fellow title contenders that we are now coming to defend out championship, we are very much into it and we will fight to the end,” he explained.
The latest victory takes Bullets to the second position with 36 points from 20 games, just a point behind league leaders Mafco FC.
Former Wanderers midfielder Kondwani Kumwenda scored the only goal in the first half to hand Bullets a derby victory, in a match where the Nomads dominated but failed to unlock a Miracle Gabeya’s led defence.
Silver Strikers, Mafco FC and Blue Eagles are the teams that will be fighting with Bullets for the title.
