Motorcyclist hit to death in Mchinji

A fatal road accident has claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Mchinji district.

According to Malawi Police Service, the accident happened on Wednesday at Nkokha trading centre along the Mchinji Lilongwe road.

Police said the motorcyclist who is yet to be identified was hit by a Toyota Noah saloon registration number MZ817 which was being driven by Mr Daniel Nyasulu, 55.

overspendingMalawi24 understands that Nyasulu was driving from Mchinji going to Lilongwe and upon arrival at Nkokha trading centre he hit the motorcyclist who was also going in the same direction.

The police said the motorcyclist was struck as he was turning to the right side of the road but without indicating and at a short distance.

After the impact, the motorcyclist died on the spot due to head injuries. The motorcycle registration number MBS 48-98 was extensively damaged while the motor vehicle had its front left part damaged.

On Tuesday, five people also lost their lives while 16 others sustained injuries as a minibus they were traveling in overturned at Bangula in Nsanje.

Earlier this week, the Malawi Police Service expressed concern over the increase of road accidents in the country.
