Nkhotakota chief dies
A sombre mood has engulfed Nkhotakota following the death of Senior Chief Kanyenda who died on Thursday morning in the district.
Kanyenda died at his house in Dwangwa area in Nkhotakota after battling with diabetes and stroke.
The 74 year-old chief is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday according to a statement by the ministry of local government.
Kanyenda is considered to be the longest serving chief and the first local leader to be crowned as Senior Chief in Nkhotakota.
Born Wilton Banda, Kanyenda is survived by two wives, thirteen children, and thirty grandchildren.
