Be Forward Wanderers made easy work of Karonga United as they won 3-0 in a FISD Challenge Cup match played on Sunday at Kamuzu stadium.

The Lali Lubani boys were solid and brand in the opening minutes of the first half as they frequently threatened their opponents.

Fantastic play by Nomads yielded a goal in the fifth minute when the defence of the visitors lacked strong coordination and communication, leaving the ball for Khumbo Ng’ambi who placed it into the back of the net.

In the 23rd minute, former TP Mazembe star Joseph Kamwendo scored with his left foot to make it 2-0 and the first half ended with the same scoreline.

A less crowded stadium with few spectators made its noise as Wanderers increased the gear of good play, Felix Zulu was the man to watch as he made the visitors run around.

Karonga’s Hygiene Mwendepeka and Nangaunozge Luhanga played well and looked like they would pull one back for the visitors.

But 14 minutes into the second half, Zulu’s cross into the box found Khumbo Ng’ambi who converted for his second goal of the match.

A game with few changes and with very few stoppages saw Wanderers making a triple substitution as the Japanese Genk Nakamura, Ibrahim Sadick, and Ernest Tambe came in for Kamwendo, Jabulani Linje, and Mike Kaziputa respectively to increase the pressure.

The less fancied team tried to score a consolation goal but luck was not on their side, as they failed to fire past Chipuwa.

The game ended 3-0 in favour of the hosts.

Speaking to the media after the match, coach for Karonga United Kondwani Mwalweni said his players failed to use their chances.

“I really don’t know what’s wrong with my boys, they really need to tell me the problem, their approach of the game was not mature enough,” said Mwalweni

On his part, coach for Mighty Wanderers Eddington Ng’onamo praised his boys for the job well done.

“I thank the boys performed to the brim, we will now be getting set for the next round of this cup,” Ng’onamo said.

In another Fisd Cup match on Sunday, Kamuzu Barracks booted out Red Lions following a 2-0 victory with goals from Harvey Mkacha and Vincent Mphepo.
