Residents of Namiyango in Blantyre City were shocked when one lady in the area tied her kid to a tree and let him sleep outside the house for stealing fried maize, Malawi24 has been informed.
According to reports, the lady could not hold her temper on the kid and beat him up before stoning him and tying him to a tree.
Other reports suggest that the kid stole some money.
It is reported that the kid who is aged between 5 and 7 bled and spared himself a cold night on the tree crying.
It is not known why neighbors did not rescue him but some people say the lady is feared as it is believed that she practices witchcraft.
On Wednesday, Police from Chikunda unit netted the woman for the assault but it is understood that she was later let free.
