The Nyau King has once again made it into the final nominations list for the Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) awards, this time alongside three other Malawian musicians.
Dan Lu, Kell Kay, and Martse also make the list to fight for glory in the 8th edition of the awards. They face stiff competition from other African musicians who are among the nominees.
Tay Grin has two nominations, best video for Chipapapa featuring Nigeria’s 2baba and best international male African act. In the latter category he will fight his fellow Malawians, Dan Lu, Kelly Kay and Martse for honours.
This is the second time for Grin to be nominated in BEFFTA awards; he was first nominated in 2014 when he went all the way to claim the glory in best international male African act defeating other giants in Afro sounds. This year he has been nominated in the same category he fell in during the 6th edition.
He surrendered his crown in 2015 to Zambia’s magical rapper Jay Rox. However, all was not lost for Malawi as veteran musician Mtebeti Wambali Mkandawire was8 honoured in the legendary category having come top of other experienced figures.
