American Pop Star Madonna on Saturday took a leading role in celebrating the birthday of David Banda, the child she adopted from Malawi in 2006.
David turned 11 on Saturday September 24 and Madonna took to Twitter to hail the presence of the Malawian youngster in her life.
According to the singer, the coming of David into her life has brought various positive changes.
“Happy Birthday to this magical boy who has changed my life for the better since meeting him almost 11 years ago,” Madonna tweeted.
Madonna 57, adopted David from Malawi in 2006 and later David was joined by a sister Mercy James whom the singer also adopted from the southern African country.
Since adopting David and Mercy, Madonna has been a regular visitor of Malawi to give the two children a chance to embrace their heritage.
In July this year Madonna took David to his home village in Mchinji to give him a chance of interacting with people in his village.
The villagers arranged performances of traditional dances, including performances by children from the village primary school where David would have gone if he had lived in the village.
However, earlier in March, Yohane Banda, the biological father of David blasted the singer claiming that his son would be better off living in poverty than with her but later on Yohane disclosed that the differences between him and Madonna have been resolved.
