Blantyre teenager in cooler for rape
Police in the commercial city of Blantyre have arrested a 16 year-old boy for raping a 6 year-old girl at Chileka Township in the city.
The suspect, Harry Stanford, is reported to have sexually abused the girl when he met her walking alone on the road.
Confirming to Malawi24, Chileka police spokesperson Grace Mwale said the suspect threatened to kill the victim if she was to report the abuse to her parents.
“Actually the boy threatened the girl that she will kill her if she was to report to her parents after he had finished sexually abusing her,” said Mwale.
He added that the girl was later questioned after being noted to have had challenges when walking. She revealed that she had been raped by the suspect. A medical report later confirmed that the girl had been sexually abused.
The suspect is yet to appear in court to answer charges of defilement in accordance section 138, subsection 1 of the Malawi penal code.
Stanford hails from Dambo village, Traditional Authority (TA) Kuntaja in Blantyre city.
