Eagles maintain top position

Blue Eagles have maintained their position at the summit of the TNM Super League table after they played out a goalless draw with Silver Strikers.

The Area 30 boys hosted the Bankers at their own backyard Nankhaka stadium in Lilongwe district.

The match started with full force as all the teams displayed beautiful passing balls which were to watch.

The central Bankers relied on the positive services of captain Lucky Malata, Timothy Chitedze, Victor Limbani, Levison Maganizo, Mathews Siwale, Osward Maonga, Mike Robert, Binwell Katinji and Thuso Paipi.

Blue Eagles dying?

The league leaders were confident with John Soko between the two goal posts while Ackim Kazombo, Thoko Stambuli, Steve Chagoma, Geo Banda, Blessings Tembo, Alufeyasi Nyoni, powerful man Gilbert Chirwa and the former Phomboni Club Demoheil striker Wister Phiri  also started for Eagles.

A game of few chances saw the first half ending 0-0 as the teams failed to shake the net

In the second half, man of the moment Thuso Paipi gave pressure to the hosts as he failed to finish the ball into an empty goal in the 46th minute.

A minute later, his header again missed the goal after a cross from Timothy Chitedze’s.

On his part, Coach for Silver Strikers Lovemore Fazili blamed the referee saying he lacked direction.

“We wanted to collect all the maximum points, but the referee didn’t know what he was doing, he thought he was amending things yet he was destructing this was a bad game for us, but we aim to work hard since we are not going back,” Fazili explained.

The result means Blue Eagles are still leading the table with 35 points while Silver Strikers are second with 33 points.
