Opposition People’s Party (PP) spokesperson Ken Msonda has announced that he has ceased to be a member of the party.

Confirming on the local press, Msonda said he will now be an independent politician in the country.

“I can confirm but no further comment… I owe Malawians an explanation but it will be later not now,” said Msonda.

Meanwhile, PP acting president Uladi Mussa has claimed that he has not received official communication from Msonda.

“Officially I have not received any communication, I have my three phone numbers working and we have also a PP forum but he hasn’t communicated yet,” said Mussa.

Msonda’s resignation follows reports that he is on the move to join the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
