Malawi’s afro fusion artist DNA has named his newly finished album after his son Mizizi.

The album will be launched early October at Chrich Multipurpose Garden in Chitawira Blantyre.

Speaking to Malawi24 in an interview on Tuesday, DNA real name Daniel Kaliwo said the name of his son means a lot to his life and music career.

“The name of my son Mizizi is originated from Zimbabwean Shona language which means ‘roots’ in English and Mitsitsi in our vernacular language but when it is given to a person we call such a person Chiyambi

“Since this is my first album I decided to honour my son since the beginning of my blessing started with my son and his name has got a lot of meaning to my life and music career,” said DNA.

Born in a family of six, DNA who is the last born said his album has 12 songs and all the songs have been produced by his personal producer Sispence at Matrix Records in Chirimba under Musketeer Entertainment.

One of the singles which DNA has released off the album is Mukandipepesele.

The artist admitted that the message in the Mukandipepesele song is one of the situations he has passed through but he did not come clear saying it is personal.

He further described his music journey as not easy saying he started singing way back in early 2011 when he worked with several artists as a hip hop artist before he diverted from rap to afro fusion.

“I have worked with the likes of Cyclone, Barry One, Young Kay, Armstrong and Maskal just to mention a few. Hip hop was easy and I would have gone along with it but I decided not to force myself but to go into singing where I felt I was much better than in rap, said DNA.

Some of the songs in his album include Changa Siicho, Napepe and Ndinakonda Kamodzi in which he features Eddie.

The launch of the album will be spiced up by some well-known musicians in the music fraternity such as Piksy, Dan Lu, Blaze, Saint, Sir Patrick, Black Jack, Black Nina, Sly C, Hilco Twin M, Passanger, Legnz Boy, Nyasa B, Mafo, Fame Zick and Lipy G.

Meanwhile, DNA has called on all music lovers in the country to go and witness the massive show Blantyre where he will be backed by Langwani Movement Band.
